PLEASE NOTE: When you receive your new computer you will also receive a separate box for AppleCare. Inside the box is an enrollment number and instructions on how to activate AppleCare. Please be sure to follow the instructions and activate AppleCare as soon as you receive your computer. Your AppleCare will not be activated until you do so via the Apple website.
Repair Process
- All Mac support requests (unless handled by departmental IT support staff) begin with a call to the UITS Help Center at 486-4357.
- While attempting preliminary diagnostics, analysists log information into the UITS support database, a unique "ticket" is assigned to the request, and (if needed) 2nd level support technicians are scheduled for on-site, advanced diagnostic of the issue.
- Should software troubleshooting determine that a hardware failure has occurred, the Mac will need to be brought over to the UConn Co-Op for hardware repair and diagnostics. At this point...
- If the Mac is covered by AppleCare, parts are ordered and installed (generally) at no cost to the owner.
- If the Mac is not covered by AppleCare a departmental purchase order or BO46 form will need to be completed to cover the standard diagnostic fee of $30, labor costs of $60/hour, and the cost of any applicable parts.
